Corvette: an investment of $ 131 million for the production of C7 in Kentucky

General Motors will invest 131 million dollars in the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, also creating 250 new jobs. The American sports, the breach for nearly 60 years, preparing for a new development: the investments are in fact aimed at adapting the facility to assembly of the seventh generation of the Corvette, the C7 waiting at the end of 2013.

The Factory of Bowling Green, which currently employs 400 workers with a single turn of 10 hours, is the only production site of the brand since 1981 and is visited annually by 50,000 fans. This investment lifts the fortunes of Bowling Green, which since 2008 had been cut staff and production because of the crisis that threatened the industry and the complete closure after years of glorious activity.

The changes will not include an enlargement of the production site, which will be updated at deeply instead of machines and production cycles. The current production is expected to approximately 15,000 specimens in 2011 and has registered encouraging results: after a decline of 9% in 2010, General Motors has sold 4300 copies in the first 4 months of the year, an increase of 22%.
