The navigation systems are useful to motorists and, apparently, even the police that he acquires the data to place the cameras at strategic points. The case was disclosed in recent days, when users of TomTom have learned to be analyzed in their moves to draw a kind of map of speed cameras used by the Dutch police.
The news caused a sensation and aroused great controversy by motorists who have been scandalous for invasion of privacy. Reaction that giustificatala since, as we wrote recently, the data were acquired by a company which in turn sold them to the police in the Netherlands. But now, TomTom has withdrawn from the market information and data collected will serve only as a database to disseminate real-time news on traffic and congestion.
Cold comfort for all drivers who have unwittingly contributed to creating a network of cameras even more insidious than the current one.
