DTM: Audi has never won on the Norisring

There is only one DTM race in the current calendar date, Audi has won since its comeback in the most popular international touring car racing series ever: just the "home game" at the Nuremberg Norisring. Buoyed by the tenth triumph at Le Mans and three consecutive victories in the DTM (Zandvoort, Spielberg, Lausitzring) that should change on the first weekend in July.

Eight times in a row, Mercedes-Benz has won only on the 2.3-kilometer street circuit between Dutzendteich and Easy Credit Stadium. Audi took the final win for the 2002 Laurent Aiello Abt-Audi TT-R, as he at the last corner leading up to that overtook Bernd Schneider. Even with the legendary V8 Quattro, Audi was the early 90s, had been successful in the DTM.

Only the Audi A4 DTM Norisring still missing a triumph. Since 2012 he is replaced by the new A5, DTM, on 3 offers July, the last chance. 2009 Timo Scheider, despite a feverish flu for 75 of 80 laps, before Jamie Green is still squeezed past him. And last year, missing only Mattias Ekstrom 0.591 seconds to win.

For the second time since 2007, travels Audi driver Martin Tomczyk as leaders in Nuremberg. Rosenheim, who lives in Switzerland considers the Norisring not necessarily as his favorite track is, but there already achieved good results. Last year he was in qualifying fastest Audi driver. With two consecutive victories at the wheel of a Tomczyk year-old car has just written a small piece of DTM history.

Whether Mike Rockenfeller after his serious accident at Le Mans
