Nissan Micra: 6 million units sold since 1982

Nissan has announced that global sales of Nissan Micra (known in some markets as March) and Micra C + C at the end of May 2011 exceeded six million units. The first generation Nissan Micra has debuted in 1982 and has been produced 1.65 million units. The second set of the cheap Japanese, launched in 1992, was the first to introduce the segment, the CVT continuously variable transmission: they have been assembled 2.54 million.
 The third generation, marketed since 2002 was characterized by a design break with the previous model: it was produced around 1.63 million. The fourth and final set of tiny Japan, born in 2010, is characterized for Idling Stop System and the CVT gearbox Xtronic; solutions designed to provide maximum operating economy.

At the end of May 2011, more than 170,000 units of New Micra / March were sold in 56 countries worldwide. New Micra sales took off in Thailand in March 2010 and as a result of the marketing has been extended to countries where the car had never been launched before - such as India and China.

Up to the third generation model of the car was produced exclusively in Japan and the United Kingdom. Subsequently, production has been moved to plants in Thailand, India, China and Mexico. Europe has historically been the largest market for Nissan Micra. In September 2011, the Micra range will be enriched by a new version: the "DIG-S", equipped with the supercharged engine HR12DDR.
