News from ford: Fiesta SUV

A few months ago we spoke of a future multi compact space called B-Max, made on the basis of the Ford Fiesta and designed to take the place of the unlucky Fusion. But now it seems that the future of  Builder will be joined by another American model represented by a compact SUV.

Fiesta SUV despite the camouflage does not hide the identical shapes of the car from which it derives, which in all probability will change in the standard version, inspired by the design of the successful Ford Kuga. The novelty, however, will be find in the different height and ride more in particular in the gap between the wheels and fenders.

Looking more closely at the forklift you can see the new wheels Pirelli Scorpion ATR delivered 16 inches and the tread, designed specifically for the vehicles on rough terrain. Mechanically, the car will use more powerful diesel and gasoline engines belonging to the Fiesta range, including the 1.6 TDCI diesel engine fueled by gasoline and 95 hp 1.2-liter 16-valve 82 bhp and 1.4-liter 16-valve, 96 hp.

In a second step could be introduced the brand new engine, three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost, able to produce around 100 hp, which will make its debut on the C-Max compact MPV. Regarding the type of traction could be the future crossover is proposed with a traditional front-wheel drive, but also with a sophisticated four-wheel drive traction with Haldex-type, or "intelligent", because it is capable of distributing torque from front wheels to the rear, up to a value of 50:50, obviously depending on the type of terrain you're facing and on the adhesion of the wheels compared to the road, or in relation to the type and driving dynamics.

Fiesta SUV will be a global car - like the car from which it derives - and will be distributed in many countries around the world including the Far East. Now we just have to wait to see it in prototype form at some important Motor Show, perhaps in the course of the expected 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (15-25 September).
