Suzuki Swift 1.2 VVT Start & Stop: small wonder that

Here is the latest generation of the new Suzuki Swift model in seven years of marketing "global" in 19 countries reached nearly 2 million units. It was rebuilt in 2010, the look and style is attractive, pleasant, balanced and, yes, even a little 'Europe. It would seem to satisfy many different drivers, lovers of a sober and unobtrusive to those more inclined to the dynamism and exuberance.

Almost impossible task on paper, but in the end, Suzuki designers have managed to play a very delicate issue, which he also introduced the difficulty of improving an existing product. Our test drive took place at the wheel of the 5-door version of the Start & Stop with the 1.2 liter VVT petrol engine 69 kW (94 hp).

The specimen tested, among other things, also sported the unusual hue Smoky Green Metallic that gives the car a very pleasant presence. A shimmering tones, which hardly get tired. We turn around the car several times, but the little Suzuki Swift - small, so to speak, because it is not a city car, but already have a compact that is at ease in any situation - no smudging.

Every corner has something significant that the new generation has preserved: the lines excel round, large front and rear lights are almost symmetrical and seem to enclose the lower part of the Swift as between two brackets. Thanks to the uprights blacks, front and side windows do not have a break and looks like the visor of a helmet: it is high in front and tapering toward the rear.

A nice aesthetic, but from the view is very penalizing in reversing both the entries on track, when it is best to rely on the large side mirrors. The dynamics of the vehicle is underlined by the very short overhangs front and rear. Well, we are ready to board. The key remains in your pocket, thanks to the keyless system - including the increasingly popular small cars - that "feels" the presence of the remote distance.

Handles on the front doors there are little rubber buttons that control the opening: a pressure open the single door, acting twice unlocks all doors. The interior looks comfortable now. The bridge is linear, the commands and services are well ordered. Reign supreme functionality and immediate feeling with the passengers.

There are four comfortable and well arranged storage compartments: one to the left of the steering wheel, one at the bottom of the center console, tunnel and one on one in front of you. To these are added the large drawer on the right side and a practical "cockpit" with a door at the top of the dashboard.

For it would be better to provide a soft coating to eliminate the annoying noise caused by the movement of objects while driving. Positive notes for the quality of materials and finishes. Yet a look at the boot: It seems small but has a capacity of 200 liters. The top is a bit 'close and penalizes the convenience of loading, but the fund has a very smooth and square.

Do not just start up the engine and go. The switching on and off button to the right place via the steering column. Started 16-valve four-cylinder Japanese surprise is that you do not hear. Do not you feel vibrations and literally impossible to hear the noise. The Start & Stop system can turn on or off manually by pressing a button, but it is also "intelligent" and understands alone (by use of the clutch) when it is acceptable or not.

If the first stop holding down the clutch pedal to avoid the "stop" the car, this will turn off automatically for later use. Good change, both as a command or as ratios. We should not expect big ideas from the Swift 1.2. If you are looking for performance you have to be on top of the tachometer, in fact, the 94 bhp of maximum power is developed at 6,000 revolutions / minute.

Below, in fact, is a bit 'flabby. That, however, means lower power consumption. To have fun just hold down the engine and to sing to rely on four disc brakes very good. The Swift is also very stable, forward security, is "flat" in the mix so that a slightly softer suspension setting would not have a negative impact on the behavior of the road but would be beneficial to the comfort.

This is actually a little 'penalized, especially on the dilapidated streets of our cities. Alternatively, you could opt for 15 "wheels rather than 16" standard, with 175/65 tires on instead of the more sporty 185/55. The layout of the Suzuki Swift VVT (variable valve timing on intake and exhaust) 1.2 Start & Stop 5-door provides front and rear power windows - the driver's automatic, but only downhill: why not uphill? - The central locking system, keyless push start, automatic climate control, the Hi-Fi system with CD player and MP3 audio (electronic volume control, antenna and 4 speakers and audio controls built into the steering wheel), leather steering wheel, height-adjustable and depth, height-adjustable driver's seat; electromagnetic opening tailgate, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, dual front airbags (passenger side can be deactivated), driver's knee airbag, front side airbags and curtain airbags (total 7), ESP + TCS, collapsible pedals , fog lights and automatic light switch.
