BAC Mono: strength and lightness

From England comes the Mono, exciting car to travel in approved road built by the BAC (Briggs Automotive Company), a craft born from the passion of brothers Ian and Neil Briggs. This exciting track day car embodies the fascinating philosophy - typically English - the search for the best performance obtained by combining low weight with high power.

To obtain an exciting sport that can give the excitement of a Formula One car, the engineers of the BAC have used a refined, lightweight carbon fiber monocoque chassis that enables a total weight of 540 kg, which was matched by a 2.3 liter engine 280 hp prepared by Cosworth, another British company specializing in the development of racing engines.

The power and maximum torque of 280 Nm is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission built by Hewland. The amazing result is reflected in a highly favorable power to weight ratio of 2 kg / hp, which allows the BAC Mono squirt from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 275 km / h.

The high top speed was achieved by doing a thorough job of aerodynamics that made it possible to optimize the effect of this single-seater ground, obtained by creating a special fund supported by the front of the car and the special guards that have led to a excellent drag coefficient, without resorting to gaudy wings.

The BAC Mono will be produced in just 35 units, of which 10 have already been booked. The price for this exciting car reaches 66,300 pounds (about € 76,088 at current exchange rates), to which you have to add taxes.
