Ford B-MAX Concept: doors miraculous

Here is the Ford B-MAX Concept, a small SUV the house cha American presented its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The measures are very compact: the length it is 4.05 meters (only 11 cm more than the Fiesta five) and even 32 less than the new generation C-MAX. Measures set out do not prevent to have cockpit rather than wide and welcoming.

Cabin which is accessed through doors that have an innovative opening system. If the front doors are usually hinged at the front and back of the slide and when all 4 are open to forming a hole 1.5 meters wide, without the cumbersome presence of the pillar. So we are again faced with a concept that proposes solutions that will never find the way of production? Not this time.

Ford in fact, the mouth of Martin Smith, Head of Ford Design Europe, said that such a solution is ready for mass production. The lack of a central pillar, and therefore a fundamental protection in the event of an accident, was countered by the use of boron steel for areas that must withstand more stress, making them able to more effectively absorb the energy caused by an possible impact.

Ford has also developed a system that allows locking the doors to remain attached to the body even after the impact. To move the original Ford B-MAX will take care of a 3-cylinder petrol engine 1 liter Ford EcoBoost family with Start & Stop system which is combined with a 6-speed powershift transmission with double clutch.

According to the statements by leaders of the House, the B-MAX should go into production soon and will replace the Fusion.
