Petrol price rises. It investigates the Antitrust

The Antitrust Authority has started a survey to understand why the price of petrol and diesel, in Italy, have reached levels above the European average and also understand how to make it more open to competition in the retail market to the benefit users. According to the authorities - but also according to the feeling of many motorists - is that in this market there is a sort of oligopoly, where the few actors are able to control the rates that, in many countries around the world, taking as reference prices Platts.

In the survey, conducted in collaboration with the Core Markets Protection of the Financial Police, will also assess the impact of non-branded pumps which could increase competition, allowing drivers to refuel at lower prices. The market will be captured in all its parts, exploring how to expand the presence of these "white pumps" in the national territory by identifying the reasons that hinder the development, understanding how they are structured and reliable also their means of delivery.
