Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 on track with the electric

The new Peugeot 908 is the world premiere in Geneva with the LMP1 prototype class endurance with hybrid-diesel engine with which the French brand is demonstrating its commitment to balance performance and environmental protection, sustained effort just by technology that combines the HYbrid4 Trespass and diesel to which the Group's engineers have been working since the presentation of the hybrid vehicle demonstration in 2008.

Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 in accordance with specified endurance, relies on a diesel Hdi FAP 3.7-liter V8 and 550 horsepower with a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The car is a kinetic energy recovery during braking and then exploit it during acceleration. This additional energy can greatly improve the efficiency of the engine with a power gain of 60 kW (80 hp), which is used in the few seconds of duration of the phases of recovery.

The energy stored in batteries for lithium-ion battery, 500 kJ between the two braking is automatically transmitted to the rear wheels while accelerating. The electric mode alone is allowed in the pit lane. Will be used for the approval of the car. Peugeot Sport is going to try the 908 next HYbrid4 April 24 at Le Mans in the day of testing for 24 hours while the first test will be held in late March.
