Renault passes first electric car to Europcar

As part of the commuter project in the Rhine-Ruhr region model of the car rental company Europcar has today handed over an all-electric Renault Fluence ZE (Zero Emission). Uwe Hartmann, head of the Europcar office in Essen, will test the vehicle first. So the company wants to gain experience for the worldwide introduction of electric cars in the rental business.

Renault will deliver in the coming weeks a total of 30 vehicles with purely electric drive to selected fleet and commercial customers. The model Rhein-Ruhr is funded under the federal "e-mobility in model regions". The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (Germany) provides for nationwide eight model regions around 130 million euros from the federal economic stimulus package available.

The program is coordinated by the National Organization NOW GmbH hydrogen and fuel cell technology. In the model region Rhine-Ruhr has now been installed with partner RWE, a network of 250 public charging points. (Ampnet / jri)
