Skoda grow and think big

Skoda has given the numbers in the annual press conference held in Prague and the figures are all up for the Czech brand. In 2010 it had revenues of € 8.692 billion (+22.4%), with operating profit more than doubled over the previous year (447 million euro) and 762,600 cars sold around the world. The company has gained share in most markets, especially those in the expanding Asian countries, with a +48%.

Skoda has also increased its home record in the Czech Republic, winning over 34% of consumers. In Eastern Europe deliveries increased by 22%, while a slight decrease, due to the decline in contributions from governments, was registered in the states of Western Europe. The best-selling model in 2010 was the Octavia, with 350,000 units.

Now the House of Mladá Boleslav lays the foundation for the future of the company, which aims to double sales by 2018 and reach the quota of 1.5 million units. Among the main elements of growth strategy is the internationalization of the brand: "We are intensifying our efforts in all regions and we want to participate actively in the growth of emerging markets," said the chairman. The beginning of 2011, for now, according to the House does not betray the expectations in the first two months of the year the carmaker's sales reached 132,100 vehicles, an increase of almost 25% compared to 2010.
