Tex, Go!, Future Volkswagen

And some see them design features of the next Golf, also a new small minivan for Volkswagen. But for now, these two concepts made by the group's signature Giugiaro Italdesign show only solutions for future urban mobility: an electric and a hybrid in less than four meters. We do not know if you come into production today but, if so, would not be before 2018.

This was announced by Home Volkswagen, who has used the Geneva show to instruct its design firm Italdesign Giugiaro "solutions for tomorrow's urban mobility." The result of this request, born now two concepts developed on a modular cross-platform (MQB), who from 2012 used as models of the Volkswagen group.

The first of two prototypes is called Go! It is a kind of small minivan that could compete, for example, an Opel Meriva. Of course, almost no overhangs and structured from the enormous distance between axles of the Passat (2.70 meters) to ensure the best space on board. Its length is only 3.99 meters and is known for his theoretical mobility hundred percent power.

For now, Volkswagen has refused to pass a lot of technical information, but we know he would have autonomy for up to 240 kilometers and its battery pack is split between front and rear seats. Weight distribution is announced in proportion 59/41. "Go! Is a minivan that continues the line of improving the ergonomics and space saving passengers a small exterior size, and has awarded a large part of my career, "says its creator, Giorgetto Giugiaro.

More details, however, know the second prototype, called Tex. With a more sporty look, this small versatile propulsion system lies a Twin Drive hybrid plug-in designed by the Volkswagen group. The concept combines Tex, therefore, a supercharged 1.4 TSI engine, along with a 85 kW electric engine.

Without using petrol, this model is capable Volkswagen assures us, to move up to 35 miles in pure electric mode, autonomy unknown in hybrid models today. In total, although so far not announced a joint power, the system develops 40.8 mkg of torque and is associated with a 7-speed automatic transmission (imagine that the DSG group).

The Tex VW announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in about 6.0 seconds. Its top speed is 220 km / h. A new platform from the new platform MQB modular transverse, the Volkswagen group is already preparing a series of launches since 2012. The architecture is ready to accommodate plug-in models, hybrid, fuel cell, diesel or petrol and gas powered.
