Volkswagen Bulli, the myth becomes electric

A concept exported all over the world for over sixty years. A fashion, a way of being and living even before the simple means of transport and labor. The Volkswagen minivan or minibus, which was originally called the Transporter, but better known as Bulli, now look to the future. The House of Wolfsburg has reinterpreted in ultra modern with a prototype that would define the next generation.

With this model, Volkswagen has completed what we started in 2001 when she was born the idea of creating a new Bulli which led to the birth of the Microbus prototype called. It therefore seems the time to realize the ambitious project have been clearly outlined and the necessary support of environmentally sound technologies.

Here, then, the profile of the new Bulli presented in Geneva: a compact six-seater van, equipped with electric traction system and infotainment system via the iPad, offered at an affordable price. Through the use of an electric traction system of last generation, Bulli 2011 is one of the Zero Emission Vehicles.

Its electric motor delivers 85 kW and 270 Nm of torque available from the outset, as is typical of electric propulsion systems. It is powered by a lithium ion battery that allows up to 40 kWh to 300 km of autonomy: a record for an electric car. In less than an hour to recharge at one of the Bulli charging stations designed for electric vehicles.

The neo-Bulli goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.5 seconds and can travel at 140 km / h (electronically limited). Volkswagen also offers gasoline and diesel engines with direct injection and high efficiency. Of course the mechanics are concentrated in the front of the vehicle, unlike the Bulli fifties who had "everything behind." The new Bulli is 3.99 m long, 1.75 wide 1.70 m high me With a wheelbase of 2.62 m, Bulli makes optimum use of its overall length.

Remarkable is also the width of the roadway in relation to the width of the vehicle (1.50 m, both front and rear). How was the Samba-Bus, Bulli also presented in Geneva is offered in two-color variant. The bonnet was also contained in the large Volkswagen logo. The thin double headlamps with daytime running lights and LED turn indicators are arranged in an inverted L "with a horizontal line with Volkswagen's new design DNA.

Lower, also arranged in horizontal air intakes for ventilating the passenger compartment and the cooling of the battery. To complete the design are finally bumpers, integrated into the front. Hosting large round fog lamps, center vent, and further down a black spoiler, which connects seamlessly to the door-sill guards.

To create a particularly striking contrast between the white side, on which stand out through the windscreen pillars are watermarked, blacks, in the style of the Microbus prototype in 2001. The shells of the door mirrors painted in red emerge from the window line. Below the falls instead feature the red part of the body.

The wheel arches are huge and behind the sills, hidden in the sandwich floor, hide the lithium-ion battery of Bulli. The tailgate opens the entire width of the vehicle. The taillights incorporate LED deliberately tailgate a theme dear to the Microbus prototype of 2001, with the VW logo in the center, although smaller than the front.

Behind the door, making this case in all six seats, you open the trunk with a capacity of 370 liters. In addition to the panoramic roof, the cabin has a "bench" made possible thanks to the flat bottom front of the vehicle. The heart of the infotainment system, housed in the center console is removable, which acts as an iPad multifunction touchscreen.

IPad parallel applications and Internet-based "media", you can use features like Bluetooth hands-free device and navigation system. The control elements of the air conditioner, and the switch to the flashing emergency positioned centrally, are integrated directly into the slot iPad. Front of the driver are located speedometer and color multifunction display, both semi-circular shaped and able to communicate with the iPad.

Ilsedile passenger and center front of the sofa are completely collapsible and the entire rear seat that accommodates three passengers. In this way, the load capacity increases to 1,600 liters. Bulli on the new seats can also be processed with a few gestures in a broad surface on which to lie down, reflecting the strong ideal link between the vehicle and its predecessors.
