The idea presented by BMW Innovation Day is nothing short of "innovative" because you are thinking of an automatic transmission that is able to read the type of road you are on. Basically the new automatic transmission BMW through the GPS, DSC, and the cameras and radar sensors would be able to self-regulate its operation according to road conditions and climate.
In this way the change is self-BMW, and then the power produced would be appropriate to road conditions. In this way, for example during a heavy rain, your BMW will set up an automatic setting of the transmission to avoid skidding, or in sport mode the transmission will allow you to exit the curve acceleration.
It must be said however that this system is still in the design stage, then begin testing the many road and then a few years we will see it as an option on the latest BMW models.
