Fiat rose to 30% of Chrysler

It had been widely expected and already announced by the same Sergio Marchionne yesterday, but now, the acquisition of new shares of Chrysler by Fiat's official. The Lingotto has thus risen from 25% to 30% of the share of the American group and does so using one of the "Performance Event" (events that occur to trigger for options for Fiat) under the Agreement signed in 2009.

According to the agreed specifications, in fact, the second of these "Performance Event" provided that Chrysler would reach cumulative revenues exceeding $ 1.5 billion related to sales recorded outside the NAFTA countries, ie outside of Canada, USA and Mexico . The goal is reached and then gave the opportunity for both the Fiat and Chrysler to go up in the capital to other obligations, such as to distribute one or more vehicles in Chrysler at least 90% of dealers from the Italian group in Brazil .

Other than that, Fiat is also obliged to pay Chrysler for the use of its technologies outside the NAFTA countries and to aggregate some Chrysler vehicle fleets in the EU-wide CO2 emissions. At this point, the capital of the participation of Chrysler UAW VEBA (workers' union) with 59.2% of the shares, followed by Fiat to 30% by the U.S.

Treasury to 8, 6% and the Canadian government to 2 , 2%. According to Marchionne, however, the Italian share could rise to 51% already by June, unless the Group is able to refinance the debt of course.
