Google, the driverless car will save 1 million lives

The cars that drive themselves are not just a "fad" technology visionary that Google are experimenting for the sake of it. They are rather a requirement, that requirement that has become an imperative, and that requires everyone, including manufacturers, to find solutions to ensure that the number of road deaths is lower and lower, if possible, going so far as to reset the coming years.

This is, in fact, the purpose of "driveless Car" that the group of Mountain View has unleashed long road to test it. These are some specially adapted Toyota Prius in which to manage the driving controls is not a human driver, but a sophisticated robotic system controlled by a computer. According to one of the brains behind the Google project, the Stanford University robotics professor Sebastian Thrun, the objective of this project is to save lives, namely 1 million lives each year, many are in fact victims annual road.

Thrun, who was 18 when he lost a dear friend of his in an accident, speaking with the press some days ago said he was convinced of the impact that vehicles without drivers will have on security, adding that the gains could also be related to traffic, that would be more smooth and efficient than today, and the environment, as the artificial guide to have a higher fuel economy.

For the German scientist future generations will laugh when they think about us and our "habit" of driving a motor vehicle, thus pointing to a future in which the relationship between man and the car will be or could be very different from that we have known up to now. Meanwhile, the Prius driver without Google have put together 140,000 miles without major problems, all this waiting to see if the car without a driver will become a reality or just a futuristic design from noble purposes.
