Sacrilege: a Ferrari 360 with a Chevy V8 1000-CV

In English we say "engine swap". In Italian, in this case ... "Sacrilege". On the other hand, a track day fanatic who lives in California, what could be done in the case of the engine of his Ferrari 360 would make the soul in a fiery duel on the track? Simple, says the wealthy (and, as we shall see, disrespectful) owner: just change the precious 3.6-liter V8 and five valves per cylinder, which is already in the "race" delivers 415 hp with an equally powerful, but much more raw motor, made in USA.

V8 too, but unlike the original engine of the 360, it is a 7-liter Chevrolet, suitably revised and capable of delivering ben1000 CV. And 'what has been achieved, these days, in California, where the owner of the Ferrari 360 Modena, weekdays befriends other queens from a garage meets the eye (Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari others, and not one Pagani Zonda but two), during a track day has been one of the worst damage: an engine failure.

Everyone else had been in the same conditions, would replace the V8 made in Maranello with similar unit. In this case, however, the "traitor" has seen fit to act outside the box. It has installed a 7-liter Chevrolet prepared by Lingenfelter Performance, specializing in the tuner of the more extreme sports of General Motors.

A big block with twin turbocharger, developing the beauty of 1000 hp and mated to a six-speed gearbox semi Weismann. Fortunately, the list of technical features stop there. We believe that for this Ferrari-Chevy, opinions will not be completely soft. Everyone is free to act as it sees fit, but the installation of a crude, heavy, technically archaic and far less "noble" in the precious Chevy V8 engine bay of a Ferrari 360 GT (built, however, in a few hundred copies, and all intended to run) is not the best way to value the car.

Not to mention the Chevrolet deliberately placed on the rear grid and the front nose of the Ferrari 360. Sure, the Ferrari unleashes 1000 bhp, certainly, now, is a bete noire for the track day on the West Coast (by the way, but these days the track for amateurs should not be held in the name of fair play?).

As for personal knowledge of the most prestigious motoring history, here we are at the level of the garage under the boy's home. California or not.
