Audi Q4: a compact SUV-coupe in 2015

Rumor Audi planning a new SUV would be characterized by forms that wink sports coupe in the world, as opposed to the recent crossover Evoque Range Rover, BMW X4. The future model, which should take the name of Audi Q4, the market could debut as early as 2014-2015.

The project is already in an advanced stage Q4 Audi R & D Centre in Ingolstadt developed from MBL modular platform, used by the current and future Porsche Cajun Q5. It is from this car, the Audi Q4 should inherit most of the technical and mechanical characteristics, while the style should refer to the four-door coupe of the House of the Four Rings: A5 and A7.

The size therefore should not deviate too much from those of the Q5 which measures 4,650 mm in length and 1,880 mm in height, the only difference will be the lowest ride height is estimated at approximately 55 mm, for a total of about 1,600 mm. The interior will share most of the components with the Q5, with a cabin designed to accommodate a maximum of five people and the central rear seat for occasional use only.

As for the engines, you can choose from 3 diesel engines as the 2.0-liter TDI power declined in the 170 and 210 hp and the 3.0-liter V6 TDI with 245 hp. At the top of the range the other hand, should position the generous 3.2-liter gasoline V6 engine capable of 280 hp, while later versions would debut two different sports marked "S": the first for the European market, will be powered by 3.0 liter V6 TDI over 300 hp , while the latter destined for markets in Russia, China and North America should be powered by a gasoline 3.0-liter turbo with 335 hp.

It seems almost certain even the arrival of a hybrid derived directly from the Audi Q5 Hybrid, featuring a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to an electric motor, capable of delivering a total power of 245 hp. The new Audi Q4 should be produced at the Porsche factory in Leipzig using the assembly lines of the future Cajun, which - as we noted above - will share many details.
