The specifications and main characteristics remain unknown until the next Frankfurt Motor Show (15-25 September), when Ford will formally present the new three cylinder 1.0 petrol engine with EcoBoost. Until then we will have to settle for some strings declarations, including the words of the person responsible for technical development Derrick Kuzak.
According to him the three-cylinder engine will provide values for power and torque of a conventional naturally aspirated 1.6 ", with obvious benefits when observed consumption and exhaust emissions thanks to the turbocharger, direct injection and dual variable valve timing. The manufacturer Oval will also debut a new automatic transmission in eight reports, all developed in the dome without the aid of any partner.
In giving these advances Ford later revealed that in 2013 90% of new engines sold in the United States will comply with the trappings of EcoBoost technology.
