New features coming to the Opel range: Karl-Friedrich Stracke, a number of Vauxhall (Opel's alter-ego in the UK) has confirmed the arrival by 2015 of an SUV version of the Insignia sedan. Excluding the possibility of competing with the Premium SUV made by Audi, Mercedes and BMW, the new Opel Insignia in SUV version will aim to become a model that can compete with the new Citroen DS5.
Following this philosophy, the new Insignia SUV will feature a length below 4.90 m, body raised off the ground to deal with light dirt and the opportunity to choose four-wheel drive. According to rumors, the cabin could accommodate seven people, compared with 5 seats in the sedan. The decision to produce a version of Opel Insignia crossover also follows the growth of the Chinese market: drivers appreciate Asian sedans representation from large and maintained in the preparations with a high modularity.
As happened with Antara and Astra models, the new Opel Insignia SUV might land in the United States by 2016 in conjunction with the Buick brand.
