UPS: The new vans will use plastic to reduce power consumption

Starting last December, UPS testers have started road testing of a new van with reduced environmental impact, built using plastic and composite materials instead of traditional metal. This construction method allows you to "cut" more than 450 pounds and achieve average mileage of about 17 km / l, 40% higher than the vans do not provide current, is looming for the company as a savings estimated at 318 million gallons of gasoline each year.

The CV-23, produced in partnership with Isuzu Ultimaster and uses a four-cylinder diesel engine with 150 hp coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission, while the load compartment increases its volume to more than 18,000 liters. The engineers will try this new UPS truck for a total of 8 months, carrying out tests of fatigue in the most inaccessible of the United States to eventually sign a purchase order for 70,000 units set aside for all service in the U.S..
