Japan Earthquake: stop production cars, comes solidarity

On 11 March, Japan was hit by a terrible earthquake which caused thousands of casualties and extensive damage to the island. The budget is not official yet but the prospects are alarming and the earthquake will have serious repercussions in the economy not only Japan but all over the world. In the automotive sector, the situation is worrying all the Japanese manufacturers have ceased production and homes that have suffered the most damage are Toyota, Honda and Nissan working in Miyagi Prefecture.

Toyota, in three days of sleep lost about 40 thousand units: it is a hard blow to the economy of the eastern trade as much as 45% of Toyota was born at home. Nissan has stopped its facilities Iwaki, Tochigi, Yokohama, Oppama, Zama and Honmoku. Even Nissan and Nissan Shatai Kohki, partners that the engines for Nissan, had to stop to re-establish the situation.

About 1,300 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in addition, they were ready to be transported in the U.S. market, were hit by the tsunami that caused the earthquake to Hitachi, and were made, in fact, useless. Even Honda has stopped production until at least March 20 and said in statement that "the Honda, according to what is requested by the Minister of Economy, will do its part for energy conservation with priority given to areas affected by the earthquake" .

Other Japanese manufacturers have been damaged, though not as heavy as Nissan, Toyota and Honda. Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki and Mazda have had an impact on suppliers but finding their products in the south, the damage was minor. The machine of solidarity is the starting and Mazda has allocated 30 million yen, about 250 thousand euro, for relief.
