7 seat Toyota Prius: already on sale in Japan

The Toyota Prius gets longer and is going to be also sold in 7-seater version. The announcement comes directly from the Japanese headquarters, where it was stated that began sales of the new Prius Alpha, a full hybrid vehicle available in two interior configurations: five seats in two rows, or seven seats in three rows.

To see it in Europe are expected towards the second half of September and the Frankfurt auto show, which will be presented as the Prius +, available from the first half of 2012. For drivers of the old continent is a new room, since it is the first 7-seater hybrid model will be presented to European drivers.

With Hybrid Synergy Drive (which uses a heat engine 1.8 The Atkinson cycle and a powerful electric motor), the Prius + is a totally new car with a new design that represents a true evolution of the species and not simply an extended version. Among the differences, as well as many places, there is a broader line of the roof, panoramic roof with built-in resin (new to Toyota).

The size? It will be longer than 15.5 cm, larger than 3 cm, 8.5 cm higher and will have a longer wheelbase than 8 cm. The introduction of a third row of seats has made it possible to install a lithium ion battery between the two front seats without compromising passenger comfort and cargo space: this is the first lithium-ion Lithium ever installed on a full hybrid vehicle from Toyota that there are no plug-in technology.

As with the previous version, including the Prius + has three driving modes 'on-demand' that increase the potential of the full hybrid transmission: EV that enables ultra-quiet operation using only the electric motor that maximizes the efficiency of the ECO hybrid and fuel economy, the POWER, finally, is betting everything on the performance of engines.
