Fiat: EIB supports the Turin brand with 250 million Euro

The European Investment Bank, EIB has provided EUR 250 million to support research and development plans of Fiat. The agreement was signed in Turin between EIB representative Dario Scannapieco, vice president for operations in Italy, Malta and the Western Balkans, el'Ad Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne. This is not the first fund provided by the EIB for the FIAT, in fact there have been other earlier the last of which dates back to 2009 and was 400 million euro.

The EIB has decided to support the Italian factory to increase its overall technological level, to continue the search for reduction of CO2 emissions and innovations of its engines with low consumption. Fiat in this way will continue its path towards CO2 emission targets set by the EU for 2015 and then in 2020, which are respectively 122-123 g / km and 95 g / km.

Meanwhile in 2010 the Fiat Group Automobiles has been, for the fourth consecutive year, the manufacturer that recorded the lowest level of CO2 emissions from cars sold in Europe.
