In Turin, was born the first quarter without a Car

The City Council of Turin has approved the integrated program for the conversion of the former industrial area Alenia. The project, designed by architects Studio Amati and presented by the companies that own the land Alenia Aeronautica SpA and Thales Alenia Space, provides for the establishment of a center for settlement of commercial and residential construction and a center-seeking and development in aerospace .

The surface area (now resigned to the transfer of most of the activities of Alenia's Caselle airport) is 22 hectares, which will be able to offer the residents of Turin, an attractive alternative to the city center, thanks also to the Metro makes it easy to reach. The spaces will be entirely pedestrian, right in the Italian capital of the automotive industry and Fiat: the squares and streets will play a primary function of meeting and entertainment venues, the only two entrances to the underground parking vehicles will lead to a road completely underground.

To make more sustainable the whole project will be the use of natural materials, the use of renewable energy sources and use of electronic systems for intelligent control systems. In the square near the metro you will find the first symbol of the new district, a tower that is looking towards the future.

From there a main host residential buildings with commercial and service activities on the ground floor and then a 5-acre public park with the rest of the houses. At the end of the avenue (which is the link for the area) there will be another square, flanked by a sports center, which will house an institute for aviation and aerospace, the image of local history and monuments of the city's ability to integrating development, scientific research and culture.
