Daihatsu Charade: do not call it Yaris ...

Starting from € 13,641, debuts in recent days on the Italian market the Daihatsu Charade, supermini presented the latest edition of the Geneva Motor Show. The project is the result of a co-branding and re-see the previous generation of the Toyota Yaris for the realization of this "new" model signed Daihatsu, a brand belonging to the orbit of the manufacturer of the three ellipses.

The debut of the Charade comes just months after the announcement of the Japanese House wanted to leave the European market in 2013 due to high costs derived from high import duties, made worse by the unfavorable exchange rate between the euro and yen. 3.79 meters long, 1.7 wide and 1.53 high, the Charade retains the proportions of the Yaris and its appearance, yet very contemporary.

The unique, almost imperceptible differences, come from the written symbol and the Daihatsu Charade chrome on the tailgate. The Japanese commercial vehicle is equipped with a single 1.3 liter VVTi engine with variable valve timing which delivers 100 hp and 132 Nm of torque. This engine is appreciated for its good performances (from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.7 seconds and top speed of 175 km / h), but especially for the low consumption (5.4 liters per 100 km).

The decision to simplify the range of Charade with a single engine is replicated in the fitting, reduced to a virtually full-featured version only (except for metallic paint, available at 270 €). In the long list of amenities offered as standard are the inevitable manual climate control, electric mirrors, audio system with MP3-CD player, equipped with six speakers and steering wheel controls, leather-wrapped it.

The Daihatsu Charade from a list of 13,641 € refers to the version with six-speed manual transmission, while € 14,291 you can buy the version with the six-speed transmission robotic multi-mode. Price very attractive addition to the assurances on the maintenance of the network of Daihatsu parts and after sales support to our country, even after 2013, when Italy will finish in the sales of all models of the brand.
