In this video AutoExpress compares Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat and Opel Insignia. The latter has recently undergone a restyling that has earned the title of "VII th generation." In fact, as pointed out by the tester, under the skin has not changed hardly anything. The sedan is available in a wide Wolfsburg gama turbopetrol and diesel engines of latest generation.
The test car is equipped with a 2.0 TDI engine combined with the dual-clutch gearbox DSG. The Passat was confirmed as a true road racer with suspension settings that cancels out any road bumps and excellent soundproofing. In option is also set to automatic. But the tester believes that the series is more than helpful response to any good curve.
If anything, the problem is that the steering lacks feedback, and then there is not some finish to it. The Insignia is distinguished by a more daring design inside and out. Its structure absorbs well the surface roughness, even if the car is not well soundproofed as the VW is still a good choice for grinding kilometers.
At the wheel, however, the flagship Opel is stable but not very funny. Especially in comparison to the Mondeo. The fault is not precise steering with little feedback. Ultimately it is therefore less convincing than two competitors. And then there's the Mondeo sedan Ford also has recently undergone a redesign that also won a new center console and top quality materials.
Even compared to those of the Passat according to meters. On the road it is quiet and comfortable, and when you decide to "get down" is quite fun to drive. The merit is the excellent suspension settings, which provide much grip, and steering, very precise and fast. However, the range is not powered by varied as that of VW.
The win on points.
