After her divorce from Sollers, Fiat presented to the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation a draft for the location, production and distribution in Russia of cars and commercial vehicles. This was announced by an official of the Lingotto which clarifies that the project is targeting annual production of 300,000 vehicles in compliance 'with the requirements required by new regulations for the industrial assembly of motor vehicles provided by the Russian Federation.
" The plan''will be based primarily on the production of C and D segment cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles. The Fiat and Jeep Brands will be the pillars of this project, which will also include the distribution of a limited number of products imported to complete the range. The project will be supported by a commitment to expand and further strengthen the Fiat dealer network as well as providing service to all its current customers.
" Sollers has instead chosen Ford as a new partner for the construction and distribution of cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia. Vehicles resulting from the new alliance will be produced in factories in Vsevolozhsk in the St. Petersburg region, and the Republic of Tartarstan from the end of the year.
The leaders of Ford Europe said: "We are happy to take this step forward for Ford in Russia with our potential partners Sollers. This is a great opportunity and Ford in Russia will offer customers more products and better service. " Equally enthusiastic that of Sollers: "We are inspired by the opportunity to work with Ford," said Vadim Shvetsov, CEO of Sollers.
"We are confident that our joint efforts to develop production facilities, new product launches and localization of components will ensure the success of our strategy and a dominant position in the future joint venture on the Russian market." In the "Russian cross" is also Volkswagen's Wolfsburg giant has signed an agreement with Gaz (number two in the auto industry in Russia) to build factories in the Russian manufacturer of VW and Skoda.
The agreement involves the assembly of more than 100,000 units annually.
