Opel Zafira Tourer Concept: first photos

First images released by the General Motors Opel Zafira Tourer Concept to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show, a show car which foreshadows the 2011 version of the compact SUV that will debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September. To comment on this anticipation Mark Adams, vice chairman of the Opel Zafira which defined the concept as a living room on wheels, emphasizing the fact that the House has focused primarily on the idea of a relaxing interior, spacious and comfortable combined with an exterior design by smooth lines and sleek deluxe car.

The concept uses the GM Delta II platform and the style is a mix of ideas taken from recent Astra hatchback with front inspired by the Insignia. The roof is made of glass. The new version is designed with a seven-seater, but, thanks to Flex7, can turn into different configurations (four, five or six places) with the third row of seats to disappear.

The middle seat in the back row can be folded to allow more room for passengers. The opening of the doors does not provide the innovative FlexDoor already seen the Meriva. On the dashboard a large touch screen: there is also a slot for the laptop type iPad. Even rear seat passengers can access the internet from the monitors placed in the front seat backrests.

No details on the engines for the future Zafira but it certainly will be more efficient and environmentally friendly than the previous ones: the concept will take the 1 .4-liter turbo with Stop & Start, and is expected to be this unit to be adopted by the entry-level model on sale this autumn.
