Lancia Ypsilon: design told by her stylist

In the referendum of adjectives wins "elegant." Followed by "refined" and "chic". The opinion is unanimous in fact, indicative in defining the personality of a B-segment is now characterized in previous terms. After twenty-five years, three generations and as many name changes, after the gradual evolution of a graceful and elegant style, Spear is preparing to market the Ypsilon fourth series, which will be presented officially at the Geneva Motor Show to be on the market summer.

Rather ambitious sales target: 35,000 units in 2011 and 100,000 a year when fully operational, distributed with obvious preponderance in favor of the Italian market (60% of the total). This report reveals better distributed than the weblog of the Ypsilon I (up to 80% in Italy), thanks to the presence of some content that should validate the success in Europe and European markets where the right-hand drive will be offered with Chrysler logo .

For example, the five-door "masked" - recovery solution on the Alfa Romeo 147 -, or a body of the car was considered more feminine and less unisex. Pending review in Geneva, Lancia has organized like a virtual presentation at the 'Workshop 83 "of Turin (old style which created the future Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia), showing the Ypsilon in digital form in the so-called Virtual Room: In this room designers and executives of the Fiat group can see the evolution of individual models and analyze them by relying on an amazing level of detail that allows them to analyze each component and create all the combinations of color and layout you want.

The model in three dimensions allows it to make some judgments. The Ypsilon is revealed on the whole successful and enjoyable (great references to Ardea), faithful to that proposed by the present generation, although some details will only be judged in front of the final cars: the lack of rear handle makes the side too bare, radiator cover grill with transverse strips is just personal and two-tone paint extended the hood is less successful than the solution-roof boot.

"The first drawings of the project 846 back in late 2006-early 2007," says the manager Alberto Dilillo Lancia Style Centre. "The genesis of the new Ypsilon has been developed between models in clay, 1:4 scale models and then in 1:1 ratio until the agreement was signed between Fiat and Chrysler." The style was in fact already been approved, different mainly in the front with the cover separated from the logo (located on the edge of the bonnet) and a more curved frame so long to remember a beak.

Even the slats of the grille are designed in the terminal phase of the project, but explore the possibilities of brown. Maybe this solution will be used by the new MoMo Design, which could debut next year.
