The DR is a bid for Termini Imerese

The news is those that make a bang: DR Motor, the House of Isernia which closed 2010 with record growth of 112%, presented Jan. 31 at the Ministry of Economic Development, a document containing an offer for the Fiat plant in Termini Imerese. This is the first step toward a possible acquisition of the plant by the company created by Massimo Di Risio, who has prepared an action plan to fully utilize the production facilities.

Now awaits the response from the Ministry, but the offer has on its commitment not to divest units, which would all be effectively used for the production of cars DR. With a planned initial 60,000 cars a year, the House intends to Termini Imerese lines DR 2, DR 3, DR 5 (the SUVs currently under redesign) and DR 4, the new product segment notchback D currently in advanced development and testing of prototypes.

The timing of all operations are narrow, because the DR is poised to take over from Fiat to 31 December 2011, the date specified by the Turin for the final closure. During the first months of 2012, therefore, the plant could return to life with the new production. It is not excluded in the coming days to issue an official statement.
