Fiat: the electric car will only be for the U.S.

Bad signs on the front of the green car: after the declaration of Enel skeptical, here's Sergio Marchionne said that Fiat will not attempt the electric car and do not intend to invest resources. No lack of environmental awareness, or dislike of the vehicles silent but simply a question of numbers: "Every time calculating what it would cost to build a model, I can never see its profitability." In short: it costs too much and the company loses.

Better to focus on hybrid technology, already widespread and already successfully tested in several countries around the world and able to make motorists more independent from the manufacturers and recharges the high costs of production. However, as communicated in less than 12 months ago, a Fiat 500 electricity should be produced at Chrysler in Michigan and be marketed in North America since 2012.

Across the Atlantic, however, Chrysler has a significant government subsidies, culminating in the choice made by the U.S. Department of Energy to give the manufacturer $ 48 million (almost € 35 million) for the test of 140 hybrid-electric Ram.
