That a turbocharged four-cylinder Mercedes engine was equipped with the range of future medium-sized coupe, Infiniti was known early last year. Today, in view of the debut of the baby Infiniti at the Geneva Show, the news topical again, indeed it would be definitely confirmed. The new version should be a premium compact coupe similar in concept, but with the Mercedes CLC style cues taken from the concept of Essence.

Also according to the news leaked to the model used in the production most likely will be based on a new compact platform that Renault-Nissan will also be used for future Mégane. Infiniti is looking for a small but efficient engine, that is able to offer outstanding performance as in the tradition of the brand.

The engine should be the chosen one, 8-liter turbo Mercedes CGI, available after the recent agreement between Daimler and Renault-Nissan agreement for sharing their technologies. In fact, Mercedes draws on Renault-Nissan electric devices and small-displacement gasoline engine while the Franco-Japanese joint venture, subject to drive high powered and diesel and hybrid technology, sees in "clean" engines to Mercedes the best solution to meet standards on CO2 emissions in Europe are becoming increasingly restrictive.

The influence of Mercedes Infiniti is not limited to compact cars. According to rumors, the Japanese brand could use the platform of the last generation S-Class model produced a larger Nissan V6 engine equipped with a hybrid gasoline.
