At the Geneva International Motor Show on 3 to 13 March 2011 BRP Can introduce the concept of the hybrid-Am Spyder roadster to the public. The four-year research and development project to a roadster with a hybrid electric propulsion was by BRP and Canadian Automotive Partnership Program instituted by the government to life and is in partnership with the Centre de Technologies Avancees BRP - Creating Université de Sherbrooke (CTA).
As an electric hybrid vehicle, the Spyder roadster with an electric motor, a lithium ion battery and the Rotax Advanced Combustion Efficiency (ACE) engine have. This engine is currently in the BRP Ski-Doo snowmobiles for model year in 2011. According to the plans of the hybrid Roadster BRP will consume 50 percent less fuel than the current Can-Am Spyder Roadster.
