The smartphone that detects holes sull'asfato

In some Italian cities it would be a huge success. Or maybe it would be pointless, given the poor state of the asphalt. But in Boston it works: the more common Irish metropolis of America is developing an application for smartphones that can automatically detect the holes in the asphalt when the user rolls over with your car and automatically send a report to the authorities that (there is to swear) intervene in a short time to fix the problem.

This application, called Street Bump, leverages the accelerometer and GPS: the first detects the strong irregularities of the road as it will be placed on the dashboard while the second will be able to report the exact point at which the vehicle stands at the moment . Until now they have created a prototype that was tested by a University of Massachusetts, which could be commercially available in the second half of 2011.

The problem to be solved is related to the bridge or the roads have irregularities "took" such as those with speed bumps consisting of small bumps.
