It appears that Tesla will have his SUV and submit it to the next exhibition in Frankfurt. The small U.S. House, in fact, would be developing the Model X concept based on the same platform as the Model S, the elegant sedan introduced two years ago. Tesla has so far proposed only the Roadster model, but we know how the plans of the House there are various proposals to differentiate their offerings, so going to cover a greater share of the market.
The Model X would then be the optimal solution for those who want to drive an SUV but always has a special focus on ecology. As mentioned, the platform should be the same as the Model S, while it seems that the technical part should be developed together with Toyota. Battery pack, engine, gearbox and transmission might therefore be the same dellaRAV4-EV, the electric version of the Japanese SUV.
The marketing of the Model X might start as early as 2012.
