BMW and PSA together for the hybrid

Following the letter of intent already signed in the autumn by the CEO of BMW and PSA (which owns the Peugeot and Citroen), was made official the creation of a new joint venture aimed at the development of hybrid systems. The "BMW Peugeot Citroen Electrification" is an entity owned equally by the two manufacturers, which sees the extension of a collaboration on the front engine running since 2006, with nearly two million products on 4-cylinder petrol engines.

In particular, the new company will be responsible for developing components such as batteries, electric motors, generators, charging systems, power electronics and software. The research will result in a new platform at the disposal of three European brands of cars from 2014, but we can not exclude the provision of standardized product to third parties.

BMW Peugeot Citroen Electrification will be active within three months, and will be made up in equal parts by professionals from France and Bavaria, under the guidance of Wolfgang Guellich, head of purchasing at BMW, and Jean Leflour, responsible for customer satisfaction in PSA.
