Smog: traffic jams? No, the limit to 30 km / h

Lock the car? No, thanks. But speed limit of 30 per hour. The idea comes from the town of Saronno, that while in the province of Varese is historically linked to Milan, whose center is just 25 km. Until March 15, the vehicles in circulation in the municipality can not exceed this limit, in order not to aggravate it too much pollution in the winter months means that the legal limits for PM10 will be exceeded very often.

Meanwhile the voices of protest are raised to this measure which will culminate in the day today (Feb. 7), in a motorcade that will pass through the city at a speed of 30 km / h, just as expected from the order. The organizers - and not only them - believe that this will cause a major impact on traffic if not, indeed, a paralysis leading to an increase (paradoxically) the level of pollution.

And the mayor while the city plastered with posters to explain the reasons for the new limit, stating you want to install several cameras to check that the limit is respected. Meanwhile, someone has raised another question: drivers who come from outside, as will the speed limit? As for the Highway Code, this limit must be indicated by street signs and posters on the walls, it is hoped that on every access road to the town has placed a warning in accordance with this code.

Otherwise, it is likely that appeals against any fines will follow.
