Volkswagen Golf returns on the Nordschleife

With a new racing version of the Volkswagen Golf returns back to the Nurburgring Nordschleife. For the legendary 24-hour race of 23 to 26 June 2011, Volkswagen has developed on the basis of his bestseller, a 324 kW / 440 hp racing touring cars with all-wheel drive. During tests in Portugal and Italy reeled the new "Golf24" already delivered its first test miles.

Factory Volkswagen Golf came with the last 2007 at the Nurburgring, and let the approximately 221 kW / 300 hp front-wheel drive as total number of eight favorites behind him. The new Golf has a more advanced 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine with a maximum torque of 540 Newton meters.

Power is transmitted via a sequential six-speed transmission with toggle circuit. In preparation for the 24-hour race will complete the Golf24 an extensive test and development program. After initial test runs in the last December in Portugal Portimão and another in the Italian Vallelunga in February are described including three race inserts in the long-distance championship on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
