Cadillac confirms new flagship

The news was spinning in the air for a few months but now comes the confirmation: sources close to the board of directors of General Motors confirmed the production of the new flagship four-door Cadillac. Inspired by the design of the Cadillac Sixteen Concept presented back in 2003, the new flagship of the American brand born sull'inedita Zeta platform made of aluminum and light alloys and a new rear-drive scheme internally named Omega.

Ready to challenge the likes of the Mercedes flagship S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8, the top of the range could replace the current model Cadillac XTS (not appreciated by General Motors) and be characterized by an extremely luxurious interior embellished with details wood and aluminum.

While it is still too early to talk about engines, rumors ensure the presence of a drive V8 hybrid model and the future, designed to offer a viable alternative to the Lexus 600h. The time to market of new Cadillac flagship, however, predict quite long: the U.S. luxury car will be presented between 2015 and 2017, in the hope that General Motors does not block the project again.
