Melbourne Motor Show 2011: SUVs and pickups are strong

Although not of the caliber of those in Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo and Detroit, the Australian Motor Show, or Salon Melborune 2011 showed some interesting innovations. In the first 10 days of July, the stands of the fair in this city in the south of the country have seen such a curious concept, Ford, dubbed "Mad Max", in honor of the movie in which Mel Gibson turned australianissimo Ford Falcon XB GT351 with an interceptor, muscular car launched in 1974 and the current parent.

This exhibition, however, seems to be more than ten years of his new story. Ford always at home, in Melbourne was presented the 2011 Ranger, a new pickup developed with Mazda, which has simultaneously launched its BT-50, produced similar and, in some respects, a competitor. Holden, the Australian company General Motors, has instead presented the Colorado Crew Cab Pick-Up MY 2012, a model suitable to the size and remoteness of Australia, with 4-port, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine and 160 hp engines, which should be about 2.8 liters.

Further details will be announced during the year, since the first models will be on the market since 2012. The Subaru, however, is launching three new models in these days of brand and the first hybrid model: but this is still concepts that will be sold gradually over the next few years.
