Nissan NV200 cabinet: start tests on a global level

Nissan has announced that, starting this month, will start a comprehensive program of testing of a commercial vehicle designed based on electrical NV200, "International Van of the Year 2010" and recently selected as the official taxi in the city of New York. In a first phase, these tests will be carried out in Japan by the Japan Postal Service, Japan Post Service Co.

The vehicle should use the same technologies seen on the Leaf. For about two months, a test vehicle will be used for the collection and mail delivery in the city of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, in order to evaluate the behavior in normal daily use. Later, similar tests will be conducted in Japan and Europe, with other companies for similar assessments and information gathering.

"The role that the zero-emission vehicles can play in promoting a balance between economic growth and environmental protection as part of activities related to logistics is huge," said Hideto Murakami, Corporate Vice President and Head of Nissan's global LCV Business Unit. "Certainly the results and opinions provided to us by customers as a result of these tests worldwide, will be useful for the design of our future products, we believe that our commercial vehicle electrical, born on the basis of NV200, will make a major contribution to business our customers and the development of a sustainable society."
