A prototype of the new Porsche Cayman was photographed at the Nurburgring. The debut of the new generation is expected during 2012 and the forklift caught on the track shows, for the moment, the proportions are very similar to the version currently on the market. The only noticeable differences are for the moment concentrated in the tail, wing, where the furniture is placed very close to the edge of the tailgate and the entire area, including bumpers, is less rounded than the Cayman Islands today.
Judging by the advances collected on the Boxster roadster sister, however, the Cayman should slightly increase its length, mainly due to a longer wheelbase. At a mechanical level there is great expectation for the possible debut of the 4-cylinder boxer, already suggested for the baby Boxster and provided at a later time, probably in 2015.
The range at launch will have updated versions of the then 6-cylinder boxer very similar to the current 2.9 and 3.4-liter, coupled with PDK dual-clutch transmission also.
