Ford-Toyota's new hybrid engines for SUVs and trucks will be developed in partnership

Without an official announcement probably no one would give credit to the indiscretion bounced on the Internet throughout the afternoon. And instead, surprisingly, Ford and Toyota have reached an agreement for the development of a new avant-garde hybrid technology, dedicated to commercial light trucks and SUVs.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed today will be formalized in 2012 and then ratified within a degree course along at least a few years. The two brands have not revealed which cars will be equipped with new technologies, although all will have to use a rear-drive platform. The joint statement states that "working together, Ford and Toyota will give buyers more economical engines, advanced and generally better.

This collaboration addresses the topic of rationality with environmental sustainability. " On the sidelines, the two manufacturers have laid the foundations for a second collaboration, this time specifically for the development of new computer systems and Internet services.
