The big boss of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn, was a little 'ambiguous in some of his recent statements about a supercar with the Infiniti brand. In the British magazine Car Magazine, Nissan's CEO has indeed closed the door completely to the possibility of creating a luxury GT based on the successful Nissan GT-3.
At present, however, a coach is not signed Infiniti programs. "But you could do - Ghosn said - because there are technologies developed by Nissan and are available. But we must move forward step by step. The idea makes sense. The Nissan GT-R would be a good starting point, but time did not start any project.
" "I do not want to give the impression that we will not ever - has continued Ghosn - but I do not want you to think that a GT Infiniti released the first two or three years." For the moment, therefore, continue to enjoy the Essence concept car presented in 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show.
The short-term programs that involved the Infiniti include rather see the launch of an electric vehicle in 2013 and in 2014 a compact model that goes to confront the various Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series. In 2012, only for the Australian market, will launch the Infiniti FX crossover, the Infiniti G37 coupe and convertible sports sedan M.
