Jaguar could present at the next Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 a prototype roadster that, in the intentions of the House, should revive the spirit of the famous E-Type 60 and 70 years. According to reports leaked from Great Britain's will to build a car like this comes directly from the top Indian Tata Motors, which link well to carve out a niche in the market for premium roadster segment.
The aim of the future E-Type, at the time codenamed XE, has to compete with the Porsche Boxster. Apparently the car should not be a retro interpretation of the E-Type, but a completely new car, in line with the segment in which would fit in (so large bonnet and short tail). The new XE will be based on a new platform that will serve the constructive realization of the heir dell'atttuale XK, scheduled for 2014.
Compared to the latter, however, the size will be smaller (about 4.3 m in length) to accommodate only 2 passenger roadster like any self-respecting (indeed the model of Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK). Under the hood there is also a naturally aspirated V6 engine for entry-level models, and supercharged for those top of the range (but in dance there would also be the possibility of adopting a 4-cylinder engine).
At the roadster version, which could come on our roads next year, could accompany a coupe that would also match for the next generation of the Porsche Cayman rival.
